Belong Health's regional WA telehealth counselling program is tailored to meet the unique needs of families in rural WA and remote WA / regional WA areas, offering both regular and one-off support.

The flexibility of our program accommodates both regular sessions over school holidays and one-off check ups throughout the term, enabling ongoing support and addressing immediate concerns. By incorporating person-centred Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, psychoeducation, and parent coaching, our program equips families with the tools necessary to navigate the many challenges parents and children may face throughout the year.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Our school holiday online telehealth counselling program is designed to support families in regional Western Australia who have children with disabilities & autism. The program offers a series of 2-4 one-hour sessions, with the option for check-ups throughout the school term. Our aim is to provide comprehensive support, psychoeducation, and parent coaching utilising a person-centred Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) integrative approach. The program allows both parents and children to participate together, focusing on improving the family's mental health and equipping them with vital skills.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS​

• Online Telehealth Sessions: Utilising the secure and user-friendly telehealth platform, we conduct one 90 minute initial session and one to four one-hour sessions over the course of the school holiday period. Sessions are scheduled at mutually convenient times for the family. During the school term as needed sessions can be utilised to touch base and expand on ongoing issues and changes, and gain tools and knowledge that will be able to assist in these developments.
  
• Person-Centred Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Integration: Our approach is centred around the unique needs of each family, combining elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to address thought patterns, emotions, and behaviours that may impact the family's mental health.
  
• Psychoeducation: We provide valuable information and resources to enhance the family's understanding of disabilities, including autism, and its impact on mental health. This includes educating parents and children on effective coping strategies, stress management techniques, and promoting positive family dynamics.
  
• Parent Coaching: Our counsellor offers guidance and coaching to parents, empowering them to support their child's needs effectively and navigate challenges that may arise during the school holiday period and beyond.
  
• Joint Participation: Both parents and children are encouraged to join the sessions together, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment. This enables the family to learn and practice skills together, enhancing communication and understanding among family members.
  
• Skill-Building: Our program focuses on teaching families vital skills to improve their mental health and overall well-being. This includes stress reduction techniques, effective communication strategies, behaviour management techniques, and fostering resilience.
  
• Optional Check-ups: Families have the option to schedule follow-up check ups throughout the school term to monitor progress, address any ongoing concerns, and provide continued support.

Harvie T, Counsellor (Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy)

Harvie has a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy and is passionate about supporting the youth of our community. Having worked in disability support services for four years and having specialised his studies in disability and Neuro-diverse effective therapies, he is looking to offer opportunities for skill and emotional development in a safe and fun environment. 

He has worked with youth, preparing them to integrate into and build connections within the wider community while fostering self-driven growth within family relations and friendships. 

Harvie is excited to bring a fun experience to his Counselling and Therapy Assistant roles and foster strong bonds that facilitate growth for both parents and children.
