what is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational Therapists are health professionals who support their clients to improve their health and wellbeing through the participation in meaningful activities (occupations) whilst taking into account the limitations of their health condition, injury or illness. They accomplish this using a variety of treatments and techniques to assist their clients to improve their wellbeing and health. Occupational Therapists have a detailed understanding of the complex systems of the human anatomy and physiology, the relationship between the body systems and the external environment which enables them to view and treat their clients as a "whole" person in their unique context.
The aim of an Occupational Therapist is to help you to achieve optimal health and wellbeing so you can live your best life!

why work with me?
As my practice is grounded in the wellness model which encompasses the eight dimensions of health; physical, social, intellectual, emotional, spiritual, occupational, environmental and financial, I understand that optimal health is achieved through addressing all areas of health. By taking a truly holistic approach, which is complimentary to the medical approach and the treatment of complex and chronic health conditions, I work to empower you (my clients) and your family with education, strategies and functional goals from the first session. I aim to write myself out of the program having supported you with all the tools and techniques you need to progress going forward. After we've set up your plan, our sessions will be scheduled as-needed, when you'd like help with problem solving, need to adjust your program or to set new goals. Your program will be centred around your priorities so you can easily incorporate your OT goals into your every day life and do more of what you love doing!

Medicare Benefits Schedule explanation:
Number of services per year
Medicare benefits are available for up to five allied health services per eligible patient, per calendar year. The five allied health services can be made up of one type of service (e.g. five physiotherapy services) or a combination of different types of services (e.g. one dietetic and four podiatry services). Five services per calendar year are the legal maximum per patient and exemptions to this are not possible.
Checking patient eligibility for allied health services
Patients seeking Medicare rebates for allied health services will need to have a valid referral form. If there is any doubt about a patient's eligibility, the Department of Human Services will be able to confirm the number of allied health services already claimed by the patient during the calendar year. The allied health professional or the patient can call the Department of Human Services to check this information (132 150 for provider enquiries; 132 011 for public enquiries).
